Bright Splash Park
The easiest win in Bright in the warmer months. Free water park with cannons, spray rings and an old dredge bucket that dumps a wave on whoever's standing underneath. Grab a coffee from Riff Raff (the cafe next door) and keep an eye on the kids while you enjoy some sunshine.

Bright Waterslide
Right next to the Splash Park is a river waterslide they’ll brag about when they go back to school. Two bucks a go or $7 for six runs, staffed by the Rotary Club to raise funds. Summer school holidays only. Ages 5 and up.
8km away · $2–$7
Howitt Park Adventure Playground
An awesome playground right next to Bright Brewery with heaps to keep kids engaged and tire them out. Two towers joined by ramps, a spiral slide, fireman's poles, a flying fox, a big climbing pyramid and swings. Toilets and BBQs are close by if you want to make an afternoon of it. Ages 3 and up.
8km away · Free
Mount Buffalo National Park
A swim at Lake Catani, an easy walk up to The Horn for the view, and snow play in winter that doesn't cost a thing to get to. This is THE spot for adventure-loving families. We've written a whole guide to it if you want the full rundown.
7.5km away · Free entry
Stony Creek Fish Farm
Sustainable fishery on lovely grounds. You catch your own trout (they supply everything you need) and the staff clean and prepare it for you afterwards so you can bring it back and cook it in the pizza oven or on the BBQ at Restaway.
~25 minutes away (Harrietville) · Paid, price varies
Canyon Walk
Starts at Howitt Park and follows the Ovens through a canyon past old gold-mining water races with some history info for older kids. Full loop is 3.4km with a swing bridge and some rocky bits. Wear sturdy shoes, and if you're pushing a pram or have littlies who tire fast, turn back at the first bridge.
8km away · Free
Eurobin Creek Picnic Area
A gorgeous little picnic area at the entry to Mount Buffalo National Park. Cross the bridge and do a little section of The Big Walk for beautiful views.
7.5km away · Free
Nightingale Brothers Alpine Produce
An apple orchard beneath rolling hills with a playground, lawn games and the crispest apple juice and cider you have ever had. Great spot to spend an hour or two before heading back with some local treats to enjoy at Restaway.
15km away · Free
Red Stag Deer and Emu Farm
Pay $5 for a bucket of feed and enjoy some chaotic fun with the deer, emus and ostrich. The feed will be gone quickly but it’s a nice diversion. Worth the drive but don’t expect to spend hours there.
15 minutes away · $5
Sun Cinema Bright
Rainy day? Our boutique local cinema shows a mix of mainstream and arthouse films, and they usually have some good kid-friendly options available.
