Where Should We Eat? Bright and Porepunkah Restaurants, Pubs & Wineries
When we first moved to the area someone told us: “You won’t have a bad meal around here.” They were right! We are absolutely spoiled for fab food options.
Here are some of our favourites.

Map: Restaway, Porepunkah (-36.6939, 146.8875)
Punkah Pantry
The closest coffee to us, so thank goodness it's this good!
Ringer Reef
Absolutely stunning winery, literally walking (or stumbling) distance from your apartment. Have a glass with a view, then buy a bottle to bring back to drink by the fire. Our pick if you're after Porepunkah wineries without leaving the village.
Porepunkah Pub
Good pub food and a friendly vibe. Bustling local watering hole on warm days.
Rail Trail Cafe
Huuuuge brekky burritos, perfect for fuelling days in the saddle. Good little play area with sandpit for younger kids.
Riff Raff
A cafe built like a mountain cabin, Riff Raff does incredible brunch in an adorable setting. Indoor fire in cooler months and a gorgeous garden when it's warm. Try the bacon and egg roll!
ToMaHawks
Creative and delicious shared plates and cocktails. Special and a little pricey, but the vibe is approachable, not stuffy. Great date option.
Gum Tree Pies
Simply awesome pies. Our pick for an easy takeaway lunch to eat by the river. Try the chicken curry pie and finish with a caramel slice.
Bright Brewery
An extensive and frequently rotating roster of beers, plus river views from the deck. Great for big groups and families.
Katsu
The sushi is so good. Another quick takeaway lunch fave.
Alpine Gourmet Meats
The best choice when you want to grab something to cook on one of our BBQs.
The Big Shops
There is a Woolworths and an IGA in Bright. If you're staying for more than a weekend, we highly recommend Bright Food Coop, a pop-up where local organic producers sell once a week. You must order online in advance for pick-up on Thursday evening.
